What is GAY-i?

GAY-i is an AI companion built for the LGBTQ+ community and allies. Tap "ASK GAY-i", drop the situation, and chat with an AI that talks like your group chat — not a corporate help desk. The AI replies in a witty, warm, no-bullshit voice with a script-style suggested response and a clear next move.

It is for entertainment and general guidance only. It is not a substitute for medical, legal, financial, or mental‑health professionals.

How do free messages and subscriptions work?

Every new account gets 10 free messages to try the app — no credit card required. After that you can keep going on a paid plan.

Annual options are also available at a discount on the in‑app Upgrade screen. Subscriptions auto‑renew at the price shown until you cancel.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On iPhone or iPad: open the iOS Settings app → tap your name → Subscriptions → GAY-i → Cancel Subscription.

On Android: open the Play Store → tap your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → GAY-i → Cancel.

On the web: open GAY-i → Settings → Subscription → Manage. You'll be sent to a Stripe billing portal where you can cancel.

You keep your paid features until the end of the current billing period, then drop back to the free tier.

I subscribed on iOS but the app still shows me as Free.

Apple usually delivers the receipt within a few seconds, but it can take up to a minute. Try the following:

  1. Force‑close the app and reopen it.
  2. Open Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases (or use the Restore Purchases button on the Upgrade screen).
  3. Make sure you are signed into the same Apple ID you used to purchase.

I bought GAY-i on iPhone — how do I get my plan on a new device?

Sign into the app with the same email and tap Restore Purchases on the Upgrade screen or in Settings. As long as you're signed into the same Apple ID (or Google account on Android), your plan will reactivate.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, chat history, saved cards, and usage records. See our Privacy Policy for the full list of what is deleted.

Subscriptions are not automatically cancelled on iOS or Android. Because Apple and Google manage those subscriptions, you must cancel them yourself before deleting your account, otherwise you will continue to be charged. Use the cancellation steps in the FAQ above. Web (Stripe) subscriptions are cancelled automatically as part of the deletion.

I forgot my password.

On the Sign In screen, tap Forgot password? and we'll email you a reset link. If the email never arrives, check spam, then email hello@gay-i.co from the address on the account.

The app is slow, crashing, or messages won't send.

Persistent crashes? Email us with your device model and OS version so we can reproduce the issue.

How do I report a problematic AI response?

Long‑press any message in the chat and tap Report. Tell us what was wrong (inaccurate, offensive, unsafe) and we review every report. Our Community Guidelines describe what we don't allow.

Where does the 10% donation go?

10% of subscription revenue goes to organizations supporting LGBTQ+ communities, including crisis intervention and suicide prevention. The donation comes from GAY-i's revenue — it isn't added on top of your subscription price. We share giving updates periodically through the app.
